TUNK is an Istanbul-based architecture and design studio working at the intersection of space, material and experience. Its practice spans architecture, interiors, exhibition design, installation, lighting and product, with each project conceived as a spatial system of its own rather than a style to be applied.
Its approach brings together architectural thinking, artistic research and material experimentation, with light, sound and technology used as working materials. The practice studies how materials, industrial processes and technical systems shape the way a space is experienced, and turns that research into built work.
Idea and making are developed together. For each project TUNK devises its own production methods, working with Istanbul's metal, glass and craft workshops and with manufacturers from design and prototyping through to fabrication, so that concept, technical detail and physical result are held to the same standard.
The work ranges from experimental and immersive installations and site-specific interventions to museum and gallery exhibitions at the Pera Museum, Istanbul Modern, Akbank Sanat and the AKM Opera House; retail environments such as the Pneuma Flagship Store for Parfumlab, awarded Silver at the FRAME Awards 2026; residential, restaurant and interior projects; and custom lighting and collectible design, represented by Adorno Design and shown at Milan Design Week and 3 Days of Design. Projects have been published by Frame, ArchDaily, Designboom, Dezeen and Design Milk.
The studio was founded in 2014 by architect Buşra Tunç, who leads its creative direction. TUNK works with brands, cultural institutions, developers, artists and private clients looking for a space made specifically for them. For a site, a brief or an idea that needs a spatial form: [email protected]
