PNEUMA FLAGSHIP STORE

A flagship perfume store for Parfumlab in Istanbul, built on the logic of the pneumatic tube: the hidden network that carries samples through hospitals, made into the visible system of the space. Perfume is made by circulating and combining substances, so the store is organised around circulation. A central unit runs the length of the narrow plan as display, counter and workshop table, clad in more than 600 stainless steel tiles treated like ceramic. Above it a metal pipe network climbs into the ceiling, carries a surgical light and divides the room into zones for the formulas; small motors send perfume bottles through the pipes, making the movement literal. On one wall the collection sits behind custom-cast blue frosted plexiglass; on the other, the pipes become hand-bent borosilicate glass held by laboratory clamps. Pipe bending, glass, plexiglass casting and tile cladding were each developed with Istanbul metal and glass workshops, from prototype to production.
